Here’s a little background knowledge incase you’re interested and let’s be honest it’s good to know a bit about someone especially if you’re gonna try out some of their recipes. 

Well my maiden name is Brown, born in Balham, yep South London girl. My Dad William Francis Brown my hero married my Mum Sangita Bhardwaj. Yes, no doubt it sounds crazy already. A Roman Catholic marrying a Hindu Punjabi = A South London catholic girl.. Me!

You can see some of my recipes are influenced by both parents and their ways of cooking. 

I’m very new to “blogging” a virgin should I say. I use to be on Facebook twenty four seven, being a mum at home. It bored me to death so I just deactivated myself and been Facebook free for a month. Don’t really miss it and as much as some peeps would like to think.. No I’m not a FB addict, never was, never will. Anyways I have a new thing and it’s called “blogging” which I can use in a constructive way and besides it sounds more fun!

So, I use to be a Brown and I’m now a “Gill”! No laughing please! Btw I married and yes he is a Gill and no he’s not Indian. So it’s quite funny that I’m brown in colour and I had a typical English last name being Brown. Got married to a Gill and my husbands white, Gill apparently deriving from the Vikings. It’s a nice surprise though as some peeps expect to see an Indian guy bearing in mind his first name is Mike but as some of you know a lot of Indians give themselves English nicknames. Ok, so I was a Brown and married my best friend Mike Gill and we have two most gorgeous kids.. Very active, hyper kids – our 5 year old daughter Ava and our 19 month old son Ace. They are our everything and we love them to infinity and beyond! Xxx

I use to be a workaholic and ex work colleagues would be surprised to see how I am these days. I used to do ridiculous hours, a grafter so to speak. Big break was when I had to pick between Saatchi & Saatchi or Channel 4. I ended up with Channel 4 @ horse ferry road and enjoyed billing airtime, working with the crazy sales team and collecting millions in. Had good fun there. Then I remember temping at Carlton which was boringgggg. I was saved and got a temp assignment at Discovery Channel, great company. Landed myself a perm role managing the Cash & doing the programming accounting. Always liked to keep myself busy. After nearly 4 yrs before they moved offices I left and joined a Crm start up branch now that was a challenge and a half! It was there that little did I know I’d be meeting my future husband. I then left, we got married on 7th February 2009 and honeymooned in Thailand.  Few months later we had some great news, expecting our first baby… Ava Maya and a new chapter started. 

   So yes, you may have gathered Mike and I don’t hang about and if you are doing the calculations and assuming not that it matters.. Ava was conceived a month after we wed and born on the 18th December 2009 during a blizzard, one week before Christmas Day. 

Ava was a really good baby and very active. In 2012 we thought we would expand our family.  Ava was very excited I remember her talking to my belly. Sadly not always things are meant to be. Was a traumatic time but we dealt with it and focused on us three as a family.
